Visualize your progress.
It’s something that I tell my clients each and every day during our workouts. And (in all honesty), it’s something that, more often than not, is met with an earth-shattering eye roll.
I get it! It sounds cheesy.
But the fact of the matter is- visualization works.
You see, if you want to get results from your weight loss program, you have to flex more than just your muscles- you have to flex your brain too!
The power of visualization is an under-utilized, (and hello- FREE) tool that can help you achieve weight-loss success. That’s why in this blog post, I’m sharing with you how to effectively incorporate visualization into your fitness strategy!

So What is Visualization? And How Does it Apply to Weight Loss?
Simply put, visualization the practice of imagining yourself in the situation you wish to be.
On some level, it sounds too good to be true.
I’m sure if we think hard enough we can all imagine losing weight, fitting into smaller clothes, feeling good about ourselves + our bodies…
And yes, simply visualizing these dreams doesn’t make them reality. Action is required beyond that visualization.
But what makes visualization so powerful is the simple fact that the brain doesn’t distinguish between real and imaginary- if we visualize something happening, then the brain can process it in some of the same ways as if it is actually happening.
By imagining yourself in your desired state, you force your subconscious mind to show you opportunities, provide you with information, giving you the needed call to action to achieve exactly what you have visualized.
All you have to do, is to follow those impulses.

The simple truth is that visualization can change your perception of the world. Ultimately, strong visualizations of your dream life puts you in connection with more of the ‘right’ opportunities to turn those dreams into reality.
Now, most women find visualization challenging because they can’t put into words what it is that they want from their weight loss plan.
Think about it- you may cringe at the extra ‘fluff’ covering your midsection but does that mean you desire rock-hard abs? a softer, yet flat stomach? Or maybe that elusive hour-glass shape is more your style?
Are you trying to get skinnier? Leaner? Stronger? Are you trying to gain weight? Put on muscle mass?
The term “healthy” doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all definition!
Thus, to use visualization for weight loss, you first need to get crystal clear on what you want your future life to look like, and then, you simply need to imagine yourself playing out those situations that you want to make true.
Create a mental picture of the “end result” you’re striving for. Envision yourself fitting into the types of clothes that you want to. Picture what your life is like once you reach your goal. Ask yourself- what types of food do you enjoy? How + where do you exercise?
Involve your emotions + really ask yourself how this experience makes you FEEL.
The more vivid your visualization, the more realistic it will feel + the more powerful the exercise will be.
This practice doesn’t have to take a lot of time. Just 10 minutes a day can have a profound effect on your mental state.
Like with any healthy habit, visualization works best when practiced consistently. When you visualize daily, you align your thoughts, feelings + actions with your vision, making it easier to maintain the motivation you need to continue taking action toward your weight loss goals.
While visualization won’t do all the work for you, it can be a powerful aid in overcoming self-limiting beliefs, and it can help you more easily engage in the actions which are necessary to achieve extraordinary results.
Give it a try + experience the difference in your own fitness journey! I’d love for you to share your results in the comments below.
